Self-Harming Behavior and Adolescents

Self-harming behavior has increased significantly among adolescents.  This workshop explores the myths behind self-harming behaviors, the role of self-harming behavior with this population, and provides a step by step process for intervening to stop this behavior.  Participants will understand mental health and developmental issues specific to adolescents, will learn the motivation behind self-harming behaviors, will learn dynamics of self-harming behaviors, will learn the dynamics of self-harming that are unique to this generation of adolescent, will learn a step by step process for helping adolescents understand their patterns of self-harm, motivating teens to change these patterns, and utilizing relationship, cognitive, and behavioral therapy to change these patterns.
